Electrical drafting & BIM outsourcing FAQ.
Answers consolidated from hundreds of scoping calls with engineering managers, BIM leads, and procurement officers.
§01 — Engagement & Commercials
Do you offer a risk-free trial?
Yes. For new clients, the first drawing is delivered as a free sample. If it doesn't meet your internal standards, there's no invoice and no obligation to continue. No credit card, no retainer required — just a scoping call and your source material.
How do you price your engagements?
Three pricing models: fixed-scope project for one-off packages, per-drawing rates (typically 40% below US/AU onshore rates) for ad-hoc capacity, and monthly retainer for managed-service engagements with guaranteed capacity. We propose the right model on the initial call. Use our cost calculator for a benchmark.
What is your typical turnaround?
Single-line diagrams: 3–5 business days. MCC / switchgear packages: 2–3 weeks. Solar permit packages: 5–7 business days. BIM pilots: 2–4 weeks. Revision SLA 24 hours on managed-service engagements.
How do you handle revisions and change orders?
Project-based engagements include two revision rounds in fixed pricing. Managed service includes unlimited revisions within the 24-hour SLA. Change orders beyond scope are quoted in writing before work begins — no surprise invoices.
§02 — Standards & Codes
Which electrical codes do your engineers work to?
NEC 2023 (US), IEC 60364 and 61439 (international), AS/NZS 3000 (Australia / NZ), CSA C22.1 (Canada), BS 7671 (UK). Every deliverable QA'd against the applicable jurisdiction code as a standard gate.
Do you perform arc flash studies?
Yes. IEEE 1584-compliant arc flash studies with NFPA 70E-compliant labeling. Performed in ETAP or SKM Power Tools. Reports are suitable for OSHA or insurance review. See our NFPA 70E guide for context.
Do you handle hazardous-area classification?
Yes. NEC Article 500/505, AS/NZS 60079, IEC 60079, and API RP 500/505 classification drawings, equipment schedules, and installation detail for Class I Division 1/2 and Zone 0/1/2 environments.
Can you provide PE-stamped drawings?
Yes. PE-stamped drawings are available in applicable US jurisdictions through our partnered Professional Engineers. Chartered Engineers for UK and Australian projects.
§03 — Tooling & Integration
Can you work inside our AutoCAD or Microstation templates?
Yes. Title blocks, cell libraries, layer naming, pen tables, and drawing conventions matched exactly. We also work inside your hosted environment via Citrix, VDI, or client-managed VPN.
Can you work to our BIM Execution Plan?
Yes. We build to your BEP including LOD requirements, model origin, shared coordinates, worksets, and file naming. If you don't have a BEP, we can help draft one aligned to ISO 19650.
What levels of development (LOD) do you model to?
We routinely deliver LOD 200, 300, 350, and 400 across electrical, mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines. LOD is defined in kickoff and verified at every milestone.
Can you integrate with our project management tools?
Yes. MS Teams, Slack, Jira, Asana, ProjectWise, BIM 360, and client-hosted Citrix / VDI environments. Our onshore PMs run weekly status calls and escalation paths alongside your internal PMs.
§04 — Security & IP
How do you protect our drawings and IP?
Mutual NDA before any source material shared. Individual engineer confidentiality agreements. Encrypted storage and TLS-protected transfer. Role-segregated access per client. Drawings can remain entirely within your environment via client-hosted VDI.
Where is your team based?
Project management and client-facing engineering leads are in San Diego, California. Production drafting and modeling operates from our Pakistan office, giving clients effectively 24-hour project progression across time zones.
Are your engineers background-checked?
Senior engineers on client accounts undergo background verification. All engineers bind to individual confidentiality agreements. For regulated clients (utilities, data centers), we run enhanced verification on request.
§05 — Industries & Specialisations
What industries do you serve?
Mining, oil & gas, solar EPCs, electric utilities, and commercial / institutional. Each has a dedicated template library and standards expertise maintained by senior leads.
What AHJs have you worked with for solar permits?
200+ AHJs across California, Texas, Arizona, New York, Florida, and Australia. Per-AHJ checklists cover local quirks, utility interconnection forms, and plan-check requirements. See our solar services page.
Do you work with tier-1 operators as well as mid-tier?
Yes. Client base spans tier-1 mining operators, mid-tier miners, EPCs, and mid-sized engineering consultancies. Same quality process; engagement model scales to project size.
